It provides information on where the school was located and who built it. The article gives information about the first teachers and board members hired at the school, as well the first graduating class.
     The information presented in this article is important because it shows that by requiring a school for public education to be built, Carlisle had become a thriving community. It also shows the growth of the town, as another school building had to be constructed a few years later to accomodate all of the students.
