Huttig is a lumber town near the Arkansas-Louisiana border in southeast Union County. Its primary source of jobs and income is the sawmill which operates there. While it is a relatively small place, it has a history which intermingles with trends in the lumber industry, technological advancements, and social trends not only in Arkansas, but also the United States as a whole.
