Dick Huddleston of Lum and Abner (Jot 'em)

This is a picture of the "Huddleston Store". Dick Huddleston was a community leader in the small town of Waters, Arkansas. He built this store in 1909, not realizing that it was later to become a bustling social center. In the mid 30's the Lum and Abner show had become such a success that the name Waters was officially changed to Pine Ridge, in accordance with the fictional town in the shows. This store was converted as well, and became the "Jot 'em Down Store", another reference from the immensely popular radio programs (History).
