This is the train crew and depot agent Irving Ellington in front of the Montana Northern Railway, which ran from Spadra to the North Crop. Most coal was first sent to Spadra and then on to Fort Smith where it would be sent on to the rest of the country. Before the railroads, the coal was shipped down the Arkansas River from Ozark or Fort Smith.
